After Joe Delehay and his PM Motorsports Inc. team took a break for
the 2008 season, only attending two events all year Delehay proved
that he was still a threat in Pro Modified with his PM Motorsports
Inc. Tim McAmis built 1968 Pro Mod Camaro.
The teams first event in 2008 was the West Coast Pro Mod event in
Mission, BC. They qualified first in the tough eight car field with
over a tenth of a second on the second place qualifier, and won every
round of eliminations including the finals when the opponent red
lighted but due to an off season rule change that the team was
unaware of (minimum weight was increased) the car was 10lbs light at
the scales and the win was awarded to the red lighting opponent.
This was the only WCPMA event entered in 2008.
For the second and last event of the 2008 season Delehay and team
brought their 1968 Tim McAmis Camaro to the IHRA Rocky Mountain
Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta where they showed the could compete
with the big dogs. Delehay and crew impressed many after qualifying
in the 12th position. In the semi finals Delehay left with almost a
tenth of a second hole shot but lost in a pedal fest to Texas native
Thomas Patterson.
"Last year was a bit of a breather for us" said Joe, "We only
attended two events and we were happy with the results in both
events".
For the 2009 season Delehay and the PM Motorsports team plan to run
the West Coast Pro Mod Association (WCPMA) series as well as the
IHRA "Rocky Mountain Nationals" in Edmonton.
"After winning two championships in a row and taking a break from
racing in 2008 we will enter as many 2009 WCPMA event that we can
attend and see if there is another WCPMA Championship at the end of
this season" said Delehay.
