Semi-Final Finish For Delehay In Tucson
After all was said and done, Delehay finished the first event on the
2009 WCPMA schedule with a semi final win.
Delehay qualified in the number 2 position with a 6.232 @ 231 mph,
and continued to show consistency as the Delehay defeated alternate
Perry Krinitt in the first round of eliminations with a 6.22 @
230mph to Krinitt's losing 6.99 @ 200mph.
In the semi final rounds Delehay was paired against Rod Pearce in
what would be a battle for lane choice as Dennis Radford eliminated
Johanns in the first pair to advance to the finals with a slow 18.05
@ 54mph. " I knew that having lane choice would be crucial in the
final round" said Delehay. "Every one has had issues in the right
lane".
Delehay used the entire lane in this very close battle as Pearce had
an amazing .004 reaction time to Delehay's .198. As Delehay chased
Pearce down the car was close to the center line, then close to the
wall. "I was chasing Pearce down while trying to straighten out the
car" Delehay said. "As I approached the finish line I knew it was
close". Unfortunitly Delehay's 6.281 @ 228 mph just wasn't enough to
chase down Rod Pearce's hole shot as the team lost to Pearce's
slower 6.44 @ 214 mph. "It's unfortunate that we couldn't get to the
finals" said Delehay, "We had the quickest E.T's of every round of
eliminations, and the fastest MPH".
Delehay and the PM Motorsports team plan on bringing their 1968 Tim
McAmis build Pro Mod Camaro to the next West Coast Pro Mod
Association event in Spokane, Wa. May 16-17.

enough. "We didn't come here to race" Delehay said. "After the first
round we were confident we would be ready for the following weekend
in Tucson". Delehay and team decided not to run in the second round.
