September
1 - 2
Billings,
Montana
September
1-2 saw a moment in West Coast Pro Mod History, The crowning of the
first WCPMA back-to-back Champion. Joe Delehay took the number one
spot for the first time this season after his win in Calgary and
took his number one spot all the way to the finals in Billings,
Montana.

With
Dan Vogt and Trevor Lowe closing in on Delehay in the points chase,
either one of them had to go a round of eliminations farther than
Delehay in order to take the 2007 WCPMA Championship but neither of
them could do it as Delehay and his PM Motorsports team took their
Tim McAmis built 1968 Pro Mod Camaro all the way to the finals were
they met Trevor Lowe who was in the #2 position in the points chase,
unfortunitly for Lowe, who won the final round battle, he couldnt
take the Championship as all Delehay had to do was make it to the
final round where it didnt matter if he won or lost the race, he
would still walk out the 2007 West Coast Pro Mod Champion.

Delehay
didnt exactly have the easiest weekend, after qualifying number one
with a 6.36, clutch specialist Eddie Chabot found cracks in the fly
wheel while servicing the clutch. "There was no way we could
run in eliminations with the flywheel in that condition" said
Delehay, "If it were to break at over 9000 RPM it could create
alot of damage to the car and myself".
Final
Qualifying Standings
1.
Joe Delehay - 6.362 @ 221.82 mph
2.
Trevor Lowe - 6.370 @ 223.91 mph
3.
Dan Vogt - 6.616 @ 208.46 mph
4.
Vern Mills - 6.656 @ 210.57 mph
5.Bryon
Mackey - 6.832 @ 206.04 mph
6.
Tom Meheden - 6.902 @ 198.41 mph
7.
Derek Menholt - 6.912 @ 201.79 mph
8.
Roy Trees - 7.341 @ 187.94 mph

With
no flywheel to replace the broken one the PM Motorsports team
thought they were done for the weekend and could see their 2007
Championship goal slipping away. After trying to find a replacment
with no luck, Bryon Mackey decided to lend Delehay his flywheel and
clutch which took his car out of eliminations. "I cant thank
Bryon enough" said Delehay, "I wouldnt be the 2007
Champion if it wasnt for him".

With
a clutch in the car, Delehay and the team prepared for the first
round of eliminations where they defeated WCPMA new comer Roy Trees,
Delehay ran a 6.53 @ 220 mph to Trees 11.73 as Trees looked to have
troubles at half track.

In
the semi-finals Delehay was paired with Vern Mills who was getting
quicker with every pass in his new 55 Chevy, unfortunitly for Mills
a loose fuel line kept him from running giving a single to Delehay
into the finals. "Lowe had a single into the finals so I knew
that I had to win this round in order to win the 2007
Championship" said Delehay.

The
final round of eliminations saw the newly crowned 2007 WCPMA
Champion against the runner up in the points chase, Trevor Lowe. The
PM Motorsports team were looking to put the icing on the cake with
the win in Billings but tire shake at mid-track gave the win to
Lowe, "I cut a light on Trevor and had him untill mid-track
where the car shook", "That was just enough to let Trevor
get by me"

Joe
Delehay is the first back-to-back WCPMA Champion in the Associations
history with a Championship in 2006, and the current one in 2007.
"It feels amazing to acomplish our goal this year" said
Delehay, "I couldnt of done it with out my amazing crew who
worked really hard this year with the new car".
